Group Product Manager Karl Rumelhart, VMware
Karl has been with VMware since 2003 and is currently Group Product Manager for Application Services.
Karl was the originating product manager for many core VMware technologies including the VMware Virtual Infrastructure SDK and VMware DRS, and served as the lead product manager for VirtualCenter.
Prior to joining VMware, Karl held engineering management positions at two startups and served as a technology consultant for Ricoh Corporation. Karl was an academic mathematician before entering the software industry, including four years as a lecturer at Stanford University.
Karl received a Ph.D. in mathematics from Harvard University.

Abstract: If you are curious about the ways virtualization can be used in Java development and deployment, you will want to attend this session. Karl Rumelhart will discuss the new SpringSource Tool Suite integration with the VMware Workstation Eclipse plug-in that lets you seamlessly move Java application code into a VMware virtual machine with a few mouse clicks, speeding application development, testing, and debugging.
You will learn how VMware virtualization technology provides cost advantages and deployment flexibility for runtime deployments of lightweight, modular server architectures from Spring -- on desktops, in data centers or in virtualized grid or cloud environments. Best practices for running Java workloads in VMware virtual machines will be included in the presentation as well.
